When I initially began researching sound and it's effects on humans and our environment, I read an article on Gordon Hempton and the 'One Square Inch' project. He thought that if sound radiates then silence should too. By protecting one inch from noise he would be keeping a much larger area quite as well. The inch he chose was in the Hoh Rain Forest. I thought that it would be fitting to paint a work dedicated to the 'One Square Inch' project that was one square inch in size.
